Happy Friday Amigos,
Welcome to the next edition of JM’s Weekly Roundup. A quick hit of what’s new at La Matera and a few things that’ve popped up on my radar lately.
TL;DR:
-
La Matera Highlight: Our Valentine’s Day Bundle & Save 14% sale is in full swing.
-
What I’ve Been Up To: Tahoe trip for the Wife’s birthday - not exactly relaxing with two little ones, but full of good memories.
-
Worth a Sunday Watch: Super Bowl Sunday is here. Send me your pick and final score prediction - first person to get it right wins a football belt on me.
-
Brand I’m Eyeing: L.L. Bean Japan with their Denim Field Coat that just dropped.
-
Weekend Wisdom: “Enjoy the little things in life, because one day you’ll look back and realize they were the big things.” - Kurt Vonnegut
1. La Matera Highlight: Valentine’s Day Sale
We’re about a week out from Valentine’s Day and we upped our bundle discount to 14% through the 14th. So if you’ve been thinking about picking up a couple belts, the bundles are a good way to go - whether you’re just updating the wardrobe a bit or shopping for that special someone.
Might not be doing another sale for a while, so I’d get ‘em while the gettin’s good!
2. Family Trip to Tahoe: Birthday Edition
As I write this, the family and I are making the trip back to Austin after a getaway to Tahoe, timed to celebrate Bobbi’s birthday, which is today. Happy birthday to the one our world spins around!
All things considered, it was about as relaxing as a trip can be with a 3.5-year-old and a 10-month-old in tow. Different pace than the old Tahoe days closing down Bar of America, but still a great reset for all of us.
Millie got on skis for the first time, which felt like a milestone… even if she decided eating snow and building snow castles was more her speed this trip. That said, she loved ice skating, and there’s always next year for skiing. Watching her experience all of it for the first time made the whole thing worth it.
Good views, fresh air, good family time, and a reminder that celebrating the little moments is what it’s all about. Now back to work.
3. Worth a Sunday Watch: Super Bowl Weekend
Super Bowl Sunday is here, which somehow still catches me by surprise every year. I’m not claiming any deep football insight, but if I were putting money on one of the teams, I might have to go with the Seahawks.
Either way, it’s the perfect excuse to throw on a football belt, park it on the couch, and make an afternoon out of it. If you want to make things interesting, reply to this email with your pick and best guess at the final score. First one to nail it gets a football belt on me.
4. Brand I’m Eyeing: L.L. Bean Japan
L.L. Bean has been doing some really interesting things lately, and the Denim Field Coat they just dropped caught my eye. Same classic L.L. Bean feel, but with a modern twist to fit the vibe of the Tokyo streetwear scene.
Worth checking out if you appreciate pieces that feel as familiar as they are fresh.
5. Weekend Wisdom: Kurt Vonnegut
“Enjoy the little things in life, because one day you’ll look back and realize they were the big things.”
This one hit home with our trip to Tahoe this past week. Lots of little moments that caught me just right. Those little glimpses of life feel hard to hang onto sometimes, but Vonnegut wasn’t wrong - those are usually the ones that matter most.
That’s it for this week. Enjoy the game if you’re watching. Appreciate you being here, as always.
On to the weekend.
Cheers,
JM
